El Sentinel Expands Into Palm Beach County

El Sentinel, Sun-Sentinel Company’s weekly Spanish-language newspaper began home delivery into Palm Beach County on Saturday, February 7, becoming Palm Beach County’s only home-delivered Spanish language weekly newspaper.

“El Sentinel’s editorial mix of local, national and international news was originally developed to be of interest to the diverse Hispanic population that calls Broward County home and has been well-received,” said Sun-Sentinel Company President and Publisher Bob Gremillion.  “Palm Beach County’s Hispanic population is similarly diverse and we expect el Sentinel’s brand of content to be very popular there as well.  Distributing el Sentinel in Palm Beach County helps us to serve a demand from both readers and advertisers.”  With the expanded distribution, el Sentinel’s circulation will be 95,000 copies weekly.

El Sentinel includes local news and information, as well as national and international news from South and Central America, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico and other nations of key interest to South Florida’s diverse Hispanic community. It features coverage of local events, community news, sports, entertainment and lifestyle.  El Sentinel’s content is also available online at www.elsentinel.com .

El Sentinel draws on the resources of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, including its news bureaus in San Juan and Havana, Cuba.  The Sun-Sentinel is the only South Florida newspaper with full-time news bureaus in Puerto Rico and Cuba.  In addition, el Sentinel publishes news from its sister papers, including Orlando’s El Sentinel, and Hoy in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

The newspaper is distributed free on Saturdays to Hispanic households in Broward and Palm Beach counties and is also available in racks in both counties.  El Sentinel was originally introduced on Saturday, October 12, 2002.
