A Note from our President (Spring 2002)

Dear HMCA members and friends:
As some of you may know, last year the HMCA Board went through a strategic planning process spearheaded by our own planning guru, Treasurer José P. Fernández. After a number of discussions and meetings, we developed a plan of action and “road map” for HMCA’s future (for a copy of the strategic plan see the last issue of InterAcción or the HMCA website www.huellas.com/hmca.htm). As a result of that process we have made some changes, including this new e-mail version of InterAcción.

If all goes well, you should have received this issue of InterAcción via e-mail. In order to keep up with the times; reach you more speedily and efficiently; and save time and resources, we will produce and distribute InterAcción in an Adobe PDF format from now on. Although the transition has presented some challenges, including our Vice-President designing a newsletter for the first time ever, we are confident you will find the new e-mail format easier to use and store. As an e-mail attachment, InterAcción will reach you faster than the hardcopy used to. You can keep it in your inbox until you have the time to read it. You can forward or print it out to share it with others.

We’ve worked hard to update our database to include as many e-mail addresses as possible. If any of you was left out, or if you have changed your email address recently, please let us know. If you prefer to receive a hardcopy, call or e-mail us and we’ll be happy to send you one.

In a parallel effort to better our association, we have joined forces with Hispanic PR Wire (see related article in this newsletter). By teaming up on projects of joint interest we expect to maximize economies of scale, and bring you bigger and better programs with a wider reach. The first of these joint projects is our March event, a Spanish refresher, half-day workshop with an excellent panel of expert instructors. We hope you can join us!
